Bangalore Traffic

I have noticed a lot of people complain against the corrupt police officers and the Bangalore traffic Police. I want to know what are you people doing as individuals?

I have been driving a maruti 800 for 12 years in bangalore. I have spent enough time on the roads and noticed the biggest reasons for the jams are because of a very reasons. Nobody wants to let the other person go before him.

First they start riding a two wheeler. Because its a two wheeler, they can occupy even the smallest of spaces in between two cars. The poor car driver is about to start his car and move forward. Before he can do that there are 2 riders who occupy the space that was created. If the car driver doesnt pay enough attention he may just end up crashing into the rider. Where is the patience? Where is the basic courtesy?

Then there are those kinds of riders who ride in the middle lane of a 3 lane road. Eg- the airport road. They ride at 40 kmph in the middle lane. Not bothered about vehicles around them moving at a speed of 80 kmph. So basically a car would have to brake and slow down for the two wheeler who is riding in the middle. Or the car will have to shift lanes and slow down the traffic on the other lanes because the two wheeler rider decided he would ride in the middle of the road at 40 kmph.

I ask out of curiosity why cant they ride on the left lane. Is there any plausible explanation? I have immense respect for those people riding on the left lane and always give them priority if I have to take a left.

I remember I started riding a two wheeler myself. Always maintained the left lane when I decided to ride slow. When I used to ride, there was lesser traffic and less rules. I used to ride fast as well. I was one of those irritating riders too. Now sitting on the other side, I know what exactly the problem was that others faced.
